Criminal Justice Sciences

The criminal justice minor at Illinois State gives you a basic foundation in law enforcement, courts, and corrections.

Our program focuses on learning from a social science perspective. As a student, you'll get an in-depth understanding of human behavior and the circumstances that often lead to crime.

You'll also gain skills that are beneficial in criminal justice and other fields.

Why Study Criminal Justice Sciences?

A criminal justice minor can be useful as a supplement to several majors. You'll get a basic understanding of the criminal justice field and gain skills that will be helpful in any future career, such as:

Application Information

Criminal justice majors get priority registration and blocks are placed on courses for the first parts of fall and spring registration. This helps ensure majors make timely progress towards their degree.

Criminal justice courses for minors are often full during the fall and spring semesters. If you are interested in earning a criminal justice minor, we recommend taking courses in the summer or a community college. 

Applications for the minor are considered after courses are completed. Contact Tracy Hanson once you are registered for the final CJS minor course(s).
