Criminal Justice Sciences

The criminal justice minor at Illinois State gives you a basic foundation in law enforcement, courts, and corrections.

Our program focuses on learning from a social science perspective. As a student, you'll get an in-depth understanding of human behavior and the circumstances that often lead to crime.

You'll also gain skills that are beneficial in criminal justice and other fields.

Why Study Criminal Justice Sciences?

A criminal justice minor can be useful as a supplement to several majors. You'll get a basic understanding of the criminal justice field and gain skills that will be helpful in any future career, such as:

  • problem-solving
  • program development
  • community organizing
  • planning and research

Applications for the minor are considered after courses are completed. Contact Tracy Hanson once you are registered for the final CJS minor course(s).

Application Period

Applications for the criminal justice minor are always accepted. Getting the courses you need may be challenging during the fall and spring semesters. Please email Tracy Hanson to apply for the minor when you are registered for the final minor course(s).
